There are several places you can hire a scooter or car from.
Prices vary from place to place. Scooters cost around £8 per day
but if you hire one for three or four days it works out cheaper.
A visit to the countryside will help you appreciate the beauty of corfu. During may everything looks green and the roads don't have as many olives on them which makes it a lot safer than later in the season. There does'nt seem to be as much traffic either. A car would be much safer but which ever you choose BE CAREFUL! Take it easy when travelling through the mountains as blind corners tend to creep up on you all of a sudden. Car hire....£35-£70 for two to three days depending on size, type and where you hire it. |
| A visit to paleokastritsa is a must for sightseers. As you come
over the mountain top the view is spectacular. Once again BE CAREFUL. The
tarmac road dissappears to be replaced by a dolomite track with large stones
and potholes all over the place.
The long winding road down to the village can be quite busy with coaches and other vehicles. The monastery is built on top of a steep hill and is a popular place to visit. As well as the magnificently decorated chapel, there is a cafe and a museum. Please respect local customs when visiting. |
