Clicking the Edit button allows you to enter or edit the lots. At first sight this form may look complicated but it soon becomes familiar.
Data shown is vendor's name, two of his (or her) lots, their country, category (optional), reserve, estimate (optional) and description etc. It also gives access to the tables containing country and category names/codes as well as extra text that can be associated with a country, category or even an individual lot. The extra text can appear at appropriate places in the catalogue to highlight an individual lot or to provide information about a group of lots.
The use of "Categories" is very useful for some auctions. These categories could be, for example, "Stamps", "Postal History", "Booklets", "Military", "Thematics" and each of these categories could be then be sorted by country. These enable the user to have control of the order of each lot in the final auction catalogue.
The default font for the lots is Arial but this can be changed for an individual lot description or even a portion of the description. As you can see from the screen shot above a wide variety of special characters can be included and this allows an accurate description of Foreign lots.
STRAND makes many checks of the data as it is entered. For instance only valid codes are allowed and the Estimate (if used) must be greater than the Reserve.
When all the lots for a vendor are entered, clicking the Return button at the top of this Lots Entry form transfers control back to the STRAND Overview form.
