Bicycle Frame Finite Element Analysis

Page 1 - Introduction

A finite element analysis was performed on a road racing bicycle frame. Realistic pedalling loads generated by a sprinting cyclist were applied to the frame and stresses and deflections were calculated for a complete revolution of the cranks. The distribution of strain energy over the frame is calculated for the crank angle that generates the maximum stress.
