(Born South Africa, 7-7-72)
The central defender signed new one year contract to keep him at Dens Park after three seasons at Dundee. Steven has again been in impressive form as the new season started. |

GAVIN RAE - Scotland under 21 cap
(Born Aberdeen 28-11-77)
Possibly the most improved player in Scotland over the last year, Gavin has become an automatic choice at club and Scotland under 21 level, winning five caps since his debut against Eire in May. Tipped as a future full cap by under 21 boss Alex Smith he scored his first goal at international level in a win in Estonia. Recruited from Hermes Juniors in 1995, Gavin appeared to be on his way out of Dens when he started only two games as the Dark Blues won promotion but put in countless hours of extra work to force himself into contention for a first team place, and once given the chance performed superbly as Dundee romped to fifth place in the SPL. Scotland manager Craig Brown has spoken of a full squad call up in the spring for Gavin.

 |
JAMES GRADY
(Born Paisley 14-3-71)
The small, but nippy striker turned senior with Clydebank whom he joined from junior side, Arthurlie, in June 1994. An ever present in three seasons at Kilbowie he hit 25 goals. On switching to Dens, he was again ever present as Dundee gained promotion, top scoring with 15 league goals. Didn't find goals quite so easy to come by last term, netting only three in 26 appearances, One of those - His stunning televised winner at Tannadice - ensured he will always have a place in the hearts of the support. |
 |
WILLIE FALCONER
(Born Aberdeen, 5-4-66)
One of four players who joined the club from Motherwell after Dundee gained promotion in 1998, A versatile and highly experienced player who can play in midfield but has mainly featured up front for the Dark Blues. On returning to Scotland he joined Celtic in 1994, scoring five times in 41 appearances. Fir Park was his next port of call early in 1996, scoring ten times in 48 appearances before coming to Dens. Played a vital part in last season's successful campaign, missing only three games and scoring three times. |
HUGH ROBERTSON
(Born Aberdeen, 19-3-75)
Began his career with his home town club, Aberdeen, making 22 Premier appearances and scoring twice for the Pittodrie men. Came to Dens in January 1997, but after an initial good start, he didn't figure at all in the promotion season and had a spell on loan to Brechin City. Last season it looked as though it would be a continuation of the same story as he went on loan to Inverness Caledonian, but a surprise recall to the side for the Christmas win at Tynecastle saw Hugh produce a display which had the support in raptures, and he was a regular during the run to a top half finish. |
 |
LEE SHARP

Signed this summer from Vinkenslag, previously played for Mechelen of Belgium. Right sided defender/midfielder. Frank made his debut against Hibernian at Dens in August. With injury to first choice right back Willie Miller, Frank has been pretty much a regular during the last couple of months. |
LEE WILKIE - Scotland Under 21 cap
(Born Dundee 20-4-80)
The young 6' 4" central defender has made the breakthrough into the first team this season. His debut against Celtic saw him do a fine marking job on multi million pound Mark Viduka, and he impressed in subsequent appearances. These performances brought him to the notice of the international management and he made his debut for Scotland at under 21 level in a 4-0 win in Estonia. Unfortunately he got on the wrong side of referees in those early appearances, and after having a virtually unblemished disciplinary record in his youth career found himself sent off twice in his first five starts for Dundee's first team. A regular in the youths and Under-21's last season, his height poses a significant threat in opposition penalty areas. Lee was a member of the side which reached the BP Youth Cup Final last season.

 |
JOHN ELLIOT
(Born Edinburgh 4-7-80)
Another promising young striker who has progressed through the youth ranks at the club, making his debut as a substitute in a League Cup tie against Dumbarton when barely 16 years old. Made only one starting appearance in 1996-97, but was a regular on the bench as Dundee won promotion, making 20 sub appearances. Scored his first goal in the opening day fixture when he netted from the spot against Falkirk.
John didn't figure at all as Dundee made sure of retaining their SPL place and had a spell on loan at Arbroath. He was recalled however to play a major role in the run to the BP Youth Cup Final and returned to the first team squad making his Premier League debut at Easter Road in October. |
 |
STEVEN MILNE
(Born Dundee 05-5-80)
Steven made his first team debut in a 2-0 win at St Mirren at the end of 1997 and made one further substitute appearance as Dundee charged towards the first division title.
With the club's rise to premier status there have been no further competitive first team opportunities so far for 'Savo' but he has been a prolific scorer for the under 21 and youth teams.
Jocky Scott allowed Steven to join Forfar on loan for season 1999-2000 but made sure that everyone knew he regarded the player as a fine future prospect by giving him an extended contract. His form at Station Park has been quite sensational leading the scoring charts in the third division, This has resulted in a large section of the support calling for his return to boost the attack. |
 |

Craig was signed in December 1999 following a month long loan spell at Dens in which he performed well and scored for Dundee in the win at Ibrox.
Still only 24, the £50,000 transfer fee for the former Aberdeen and Dunfermline defender looks like a sound investment for the future. |
 |
NICKY BANGER
(Born Southampton 25.-2-71)
Signed under freedom of contract from Oxford United in November 1999. The 29 year old striker played (and scored) for Dundee under 21s in a trial match before signing. His first top team outing at Dens came in the friendly against Aris Salonika and he opened his Dundee scoring account in that match. His competitive debut wasn't such a happy occasion with him being sent off against Motherwell.
Nicky's career started at home town club Southampton in 1990 where he played 61 games in the Premiership scoring 11 times before being transferred to Oldham Athletic. Three years in Lancashire were followed by two seasons at Oxford before Dundee made their signing move. |
