A Recent Branch Newsletter

Introduction

Thanks to everyone who assisted on the beginners course last weekend.  We had 25 people who were interested in beekeeping and for those for whom this is the first newsletter welcome to our branch.  Beekeeping is a fascinating craft and I hope we were all able to instill a sense of this over weekend.

Next Meeting Saturday 15th April 2.30pm

The next meeting of the branch will be our first outdoor meeting.  It will be held at our out apiary site – the home of Edwina & Alan Abbott.  Their address is Fir Tree Farm, Pimbo Lane, Kings Moss, WA11 8RQ.

Directions are

From Ormskirk / Skelmerdale along A570 Rainford By-pass, turn left into Mill Lane (This is towards the St Helens end of the bypass.  - signs for factories).  From M6, take the A580 towards Liverpool, then right onto A570 towards Ormskirk and turn right into Mill Lane (not far from the A580 /A570 junction.)  Then (from both directions) At the T junction turn right.  Continue for ¾ mile to another T junction.  You will be facing the Red Cat Pub.  Left at this junction and down a hill.  At the next T junction which is on a bend turn left.  ¼ mile over a bridge, turn left signed to Kings Moss into Pimbo Lane.  Past the Pub, the Fir Tree farm is on the left.

Alternatively you can approach Kings Moss on the back roads through Pimbo and also from the Billinge side.  For those who live that way – have a look at the map.

Once you know how to get there it is easy, but I have say if this is to be your first trip to their house then allow a bit of extra time!!
