The Music

The Navvies individually have backgrounds in all types of music - rock, traditional and contemporary folk and classical.  Consequently we are able to play a complete variety of numbers additional to our dance music.  So between the called dances the band can entertain with other music to relax to or dance to.  The called dance music itself, is a lively mix of traditional and electric instruments making it particularly stimulating. The Navvies stopped regular work in 2001 after nearly 25 years, due to their full time jobs moving them across the country, but they still get together for a regular session, and could be in a pub or other venue near you!

A barn dance/concert by The Navvies was held at Aldworth Science College , Basingstoke , in April 2007.  M.C. was Brian Stock.  The evening was sold out and was a great success.  

The band have been asked back for a repeat event on 24th May 2008.  The MC will be Ivan Aitken.  Tickets are now available from Aldworth College, 01256 473698.
