Freshwater Bay, in the west of the Island, once had a famous arch on the beach, carved out by the sea over many years. This recently collapsed however, but the beach and the coast nearby are still very beautiful. Nearby Compton Bay is a quiet and sandy beach, which suffers from heavy coastal erosion.
