There were but few
resources, not much capital to talk about; but there was plenty of
land and plenty of water. The land was generous; the water was
sweet. It mingled with the sweat of our labour and gave us wheat,
millet, barley, fruit and vegetables for our
tables.
We started three
centuries ago and by the time of World War 1, we had already begun
to export what was excess to our needs. With the profits, we
imported goods such as ceiling fans, radios and electric
generators.
By the 1980s, we had
started to concentrate on the financing of international trade and
projects, primarily focussing on food and energy related business
which remains, to this day, our core
business. |
|
Today, with all the
advantages and experience of over three generations of successful
trade, finance and investment, we not only confine ourselves to the
business itself, but we also consult at governmental level and, in
particular, to those governments with emerging economies who need
assistance in realising their assets, capitalising on their natural
resources and financing their industries. In addition, we advise and
assist multinational companies in the 'how', 'where' and 'who' of
international business and we advise many businesses on matters of
technological advances, business development and risk
management.
Our wealth of
experience and knowledge gained over many years of successfully
doing business allows us, not only to expand our own portfolio, but
also to share that experience and knowledge through the provision of
solidly grounded advice and guidance with those who seek to benefit
from our
involvement. |
