Jules's bits on holiday in Cornwall page(s)!!
August 2002 has at last seen summer arrive (OK So I had to go and find it in Cornwall) I have been out and about with my camera to see what I can find!!
This page has two themes really, one for the bus/train enthusiast and one for those who like photos of Cornwall!!...
Just in case you are wondering why I have used a black background with white writing, they are the colours of the flag of
Saint Piran which is the Cornish flag consisting of a white cross on a black background!!
The first part of the holiday (which I am still on as I compose this page) was spent using a farmhouse bed & breakfast as a base to wander off into the yonder and I can highly recommend Trecollas House B&B in Altarnun (near Launceston). A splendid tranquil setting and a superb breakfast every morning to start the day!! (picture below... not the breakfast, the house, silly!!)

In true Jules's Bits fashion and with my transport eyes fully open I always like to get a train or a bus in the pictures and the one below is no exception. On an expedition to Newquay I found out that it was a haven for the ever dwindling Bristol VR .To my surprise the one pictured below is one that used to ply the streets of Brighton & Hove having been bought by them from United Counties. VVV959W now belongs to Southern Greyhound and shares services with another genuine Ex- southdown bus JWV 259W in this rather garish pink & white livery.

Not content with just one picture of a Bristol VR I caught the one below on it's way into Fowey (It had a long wait as it was regatta week with the Red Arrows due to fly over and the queue it was in went all the way into the town!!)

Ok that's enough transport for now what about all the views I hear you shout... well yes there were views a plenty some of which are below. Firstly two views of Looe, a delightful harbour town on the southern coast of Cornwall

Then it was on to Polperro. Another, slightly smaller harbour town with a smaller scale model of it within..

and the "little" Polperro.... ....together with the big Polperro
After sampling the delights of Looe & Polperro it was back to the B&B for some rest and a good nights sleep. The following day dawned bright and dry and as before we decided to make a day of it and went to Newquay. Now if anyone has ever been to Newquay and isn't in to either surfing or being among lots of people all milling around looking for somewhere to eat & drink then I wouldn't recommend it!! Oh, except of course if you want to see Bristol Vr's still in daily service!!
In the evening we decided to go to Fowey. Now this would have been fine had Fowey not been in the middle of it's regatta week but it was and to make matters worse, we went on the very night that the red Arrows were due to do their stuff.
Fowey was therefore a no,no so we ventured further west to Mevagissey which was much more tranquil and quiet. Pics below.....
Mevagissey harbour at sunset .............. .............. and just before sunset
