Jules's Algarve pages

May 10th-17th 2001

Nine supposedly sensible Adults went to the algarve on the annual "paint the villa" trip which involves one days painting and six days generally chilling out!!

I went along in 2001 and thanks to Paul Browder for the camera and Lenny Wren for some of the photo's we have a little selection below of some of our exploits.

After a slight problem with the air tickets (where I ended up in Portugal three hours before the rest of the group, the rest of the group went north to Stanstead first & the airline staff were left in no doubt about our displeasure!!) we all managed to meet up again for that first cold beer of the holiday. MMM.... nice I thought, until someone mentioned the "Medronho test". Now medronho is the local spirit which is really a cross between paint remover and clear Dettol. The idea for all newcomers to the group is to down a large measure of the stuff and keep it down. My drinking capabilities came to the fore here and much to everyone's surprise I passed the "medronho test" with flying colours.

Whilst we were away there were two rather important football matches to be endured erm sorry....watched. as can be seen from the photo's below there was much partying done both before during and after the match. the captions say it all really but I'm still baffled as to why Stuart watched most of the match with sunglasses on in a darkened room!
