On Saturday 7th June 2002 the first of two cricket matches between the Stanley Arms and the Cricketers Arms took place. This has now become an annual event and over the  years we have  played each other the Stanley have won a match against the Cricketers only once... until this year.

The Cricketers won the toss and Neil the captain (known to us as "skip") decided to put the Stanley into bat first. Unfortunately our "new boy" Ken had bowled only two balls before having to retire injured and I was drafted in as 12th man.  The net result of this was that I was not able to take many photos of the Stanley innings. Below then is a pictorial record of the day which doesn't necessarily concentrate entirely on the match in hand!!

As you can see from all the photo's the weather actually brightened up and we had unbroken sunshine for the rest of the day.  The return match is booked for August 17th and I will be there with my camera to record the day.  Watch this space
