The 1959/62 stock and CO/CP stock of the London Underground

I have always been fascinated by the London Underground although the trains these days seem to lack the character they used to have with the wooden slatted flooring and window frames and old fashioned tungsten lighting

The 1959/62 stock which sadly saw it's last days out in January 2000 is perhaps the stock I used the most when it was used on the Piccadilly Line but also remember the CO/CP and R Stock used on the District & Circle Lines.

Below is a small selection of photos of the types of trains that were running on the underground during my schooldays. The photos are courtesy of "TheTube Prune" website.

If you click on the 1959 stock photo The Tube Prune (Tube Professionals Rumour Network) website, but it appears this site has not been updated for quite some time.

CO/CP dating from 1938 and C69/77 stock.

The picture below is of an R stock train (left) Passing a red painted CO/CP stock train at West Kensington

The spur on the left is the link to Lillie Bridge depot which houses the numerous battery electric and other ancillary vehicles used for maintenance on the Underground. Or at least it used to when I lived in London!!
