The town is approximately 65 miles from Glasgow and is less than 1 ½ hours from Glasgow International Airport and approx 2 ½ hours from Prestwick.
As well as increasing flight destinations to Europe and USA, these airports now provide attractive and economical flight service (Ryanair, Go and Easyjet) from London, Dublin and other European destinations thus providing city dwellers with the opportunity to spend short break or longer holidays in Argyll.
The picturesque 18th Century town is of significant architectural value. It is one of the few planned towns in Scotland and is in a conservation area with many fine listed buildings. Steeped in history, it has changed little since it was built. It is in a good geographical location and centrally situated for touring the varied and unique scenery of Argyll and islands on the west coast of Scotland including Mull and Iona - both popular destinations.

Inveraray is a primary stop on the main and most popular tourist road route from Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh to the west of Scotland and north to Glencoe, Fort William and Inverness or south to the Mull of Kintyre. The town's situation, at the edge of Loch Fyne - surrounded by hills and mountains, attracts thousands of visitors each year to view the fine Georgian white and black houses in the old town and the small, quaint streets.
