Belfast International Open 19th May 2007
John, Gary & Nicky Moore played in the Belfast International Open. John fared best, finishing runner-up in his group but went out in the Barrage Round to Northern Ireland's Stuart Mcilroy. Gary finished bottom of his group, losing to Kenny Beggs and Paul Andreas but went on to win the Plate. Nicky was unlucky not to qualify from a 4-player group, after drawing with Algy Taylor and beating Jeff Knox 5-0 but defeat to Stuart Mcilroy proved costly. He beat Alistair Morrison in the Plate Quarter-Final before losing to Gary in the Semi-Final. Results | Photos

John Moore Runner-up in Belfast 25th Nov 2006
John and Nicky Moore made a welcome return to the scene when they travelled north for the Belfast National Open. It was the first action of the season for Republic of Ireland players - and a successful one - as John reached the Open Final and was unlucky to lose 0-1 to Northern Ireland's Kenny Beggs. Nicky got through his group before losing to John in the Quarter-Finals. Nicky also played in the Veterans, where he lost 1-2 in the semis to eventual winner Davy Clegg.

Table Football Inactivity in Ireland 6th Oct 2006
With TFAI driving force, Gary Moore, currently being inactive, the Table Football scene in the Republic of Ireland has come to a standstill. John Moore and Nicky Moore had been keeping the flag flying for a while but, unfortunately, at the moment, any other interest has gone.

Things looked promising when the Irish lads made their comeback at the 2002 World Cup in Birmingham, after a 7-year break. Although they had a small number of players, their enthusiasm was high and they went on to organise FISTF International events in Dublin 2004 & Dublin 2005 which were hugely popular with Irish and foreign players alike.

In 2003, John Moore formed the Irish Premier League Club, a cross-border initiative to enable players from North & South of Ireland to team up for FISTF Tournaments. They travelled twice to Belgium, although their main hunting ground was in the UK, with their best achievement being runner-up in Flint 2003. They also reached the semi-finals of Preston 2004, Dumfries 2004 and Milton Keynes 2004. Recently, however, they have been struggling to get people to travel which led to the transfer of two of their main players to Yorkshire Phoenix.

In 2004, Republic of Ireland finished 2nd in the inaugural UK & Ireland Internationals and hosted the event in 2005 - but by 2006 they were unable to field a team. Hopefully things will pick up again later in the season.
