Last year, we asked the members of our audiences whether they thought it would be a worthwhile project for the Concept Players to attempt an original version of A Christmas Carol, based on the music of Arthur Sullivan and the book by Charles Dickens. The response was an overwhelming yes, so we have spent several months on the creative side of the piece. Whoever said artistic creation consisted of 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration never spoke a truer word, but we are progressing, and hope to have a working version ready for rehearsals in the near future. We have returned to the setting and period of original novel for our inspiration, so the finished work will show a more dramatic side to the Concept Players. The scale of the piece will be larger than we normally undertake, so we are looking for potential new members of the group to help us turn this vision into a theatrical reality.
