THE EVIL DEAD : BOOK OF THE DEAD LTD
Tick tick

PICTURE:

Cropped and reformatted for "widescreen" from it's original 1.33:1
ratio. Being a fan of widescreen presentations this is the only film
that I prefer to see in its original fullscreen. Still this does look good
on a big widescreen TV.

SOUND:

Presented in Dolby 6.1 (ex) although my system is only a 5.1 setup
sound is very good with well placed sonic effects. ( As with Elite's version.) Since I have no DTS system to make a comparison
I will assume that is good too. :)

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Quite a few of them have been lifted from Elite's version
new stuff includes "Fanalysis" and interesting documentary by
Bruce Campbell exploring the bizarre world of fans and conventions.
I swear he must be crazy to attend these things, some of the people
who go are very odd. Note: look out for "Xena".

"Discovering Evil dead" is an insight mainly into how Palace
Pictures U.K. picked up a small horror film and turned it into
the cult classic it is today, also input from Bill Warren. ( Evil dead Companion. ) Interesting stuff for fans of the movie.

FX fans should check out the still galleries, some pics are off
the Elite version along with more special effect shots and some
notes too.

This is where the review of Within the Woods would have
been, but for some legal reasons it has not been included.

THE BOOK :

This is awesome, the foam rubber cover is hard to put down
pass it round your friends and watch their faces as they "play"

with it. Inside are pages of beautiful artwork by Tom Sullivan
recreating the more recognizable pages of the book in
great detail. Plus a booklet on the History of the Evil Dead
through it's many home video formats.

So go get this version while you can, not only is it
a good DVD, the book will look great on your coffee
table or where ever you like to put cool looking stuff.

I'll bet anyone who has bought this, within seconds of opening it
had a sniff, go on admit it, you know you did. :)
