Maintenance Schedule for 602cc. 2CV6
This is based on Citroen advice. Other A Series will be broadly similar. Where there may be differences these are indicated.
Every 6000 miles
Drain and refill engine oil
Replace oil filter
Check brake fluid level
Check and replemish washer reservoir
Check housings and pipework for leaks
Check gaiters of swivel and steering joints, drive shaft and rack
Check tyre condition and pressure
Check front disc pads visually (on disc braked cars)
Grease swivel kingpins and knife edges of suspension arms (using a brush)
Grease driveshafts
Check and replace if necessary spark plugs (best replaced at 6000 intervals)
Check and adjust if necessary clutch pedal clearance (free play)
Check condition of alternator belt
Adjust handbrake by eccentrics and cable (on discbrake cars)
Adjust rear brake eccentrics if necessary
Check, adjust or replace contact breaker points
(Note: for cars that do less than 6000 miles per year do all of above once a year)
Every 12000 miles
Drain and refill engine oil
Check and top up if necessary gearbox oil
Replace oil filter
Check brake fluid level
Check and replemish washer reservoir
Replace air filter cartridge
Check housings and pipework for leaks
Check gaiters of swivel and steering joints, drive shafts and rack
Check tyre condition and pressure
Check front disc pads visually (on disc braked cars)
Grease swivel kingpins and knife edges of suspension arms (using a brush)
Grease driveshafts
Grease clutch control articulating points
Grease door hinges
Check and replace if necessary spark plugs (best replaced at 6000 mile intervals)
Check and replace if necessary alternator belt (best replaced at 12000 mile intervals)
Adjust handbrake by eccentrics and cable (on disc brake cars)
Adjust rear brake eccentrics if necessary (check lining condition every 18000 miles)
Check, adjust or replace contact breaker points, check cam angle, static setting
Every 36000 miles
Replace brake fluid
Lubrication (UK conditions)
Engine oil - multigrade 15W40 or 5W50
Gearbox oil - BV 75 W/80W
Brake fluid - LHM (but beware - some earlier 2CVs use other brake fluids)
Grease - Total Multis 2 or equivalent
Capacities, etc. (2CV6)
Engine - 2.3 Litres (4 Imp. pints)
Gearbox - 0.9 Litres (1.6 Imp. pints)
Brake system - 0.25 Litres (0.4 Imp. pints)
Battery - 12V 125A (36Ah recommended)
Spark plugs - Equem 755 recommended
Elecrode gap - 0.65 to 0.75 mm. (0.025 to 0.029 in.)
Tyres - Michelin or equivalent 125 -15 Tubeless
Pressures - 1.4 bar (20 psi.) front. 1.8 bar (26 psi.) rear 2 bar (29 psi.) spare.
Petrol Tank - 25 Litres (5.4 Imp. gallons)
Fuses - Conventional wire - 10A, 16A
Bulbs - Headlight 12v 45/40W. Front side 12V 4W. Tail lights 12V 5W. Direction indicators 12V 21W. Speedo 12V 2W (T8/2)
Alternator - 390W Starts charging at 780 rpm.
Static advance 8 degrees.
