St. John's was built and consecrated in the year 1846. The building is of Middle English construction. The church spire, which is a landmark of the town of Failsworth was added some years later. The Church has a large congregation with people of all age groups worshipping here. The picture opposite shows the building today with floodlighting.

This web site is updated regularly with dates and times of Services and other events that occur in the life of our active congregation. Visit our Children's Page if you have children. Before St. John's was built, people had to go to All Saints Church in Newton Heath, about three miles away. The Church of England decided that the town of Failsworth needed its own place of worship and provided a basic building with a tower but no spire. The bell tower and the spire, which today is a feature of the town, was added later.
