Blackstar
Name:

Chris Morgan

Team supported whilst growing up:

Tottenham.

Footballing heroes:

Kenny Dalglish, Chris Hughton, Paul Gascoigne, Teddy Sheringham.

Footballing highlight to date:

Winning the league at Coleraine was pretty good when the fans were round the perimeter of the pitch waiting for the final whistle. That and the previous game against Cliftonville when we came behind to win 3-2 with 3 second half goals. The way we played nobody could have stopped us in that second-half.

Worst moment in football to date:

Last seasons Irish Cup Final. I was initially disappointed not to play, and then obviously the result and the fact that we played so badly.

Best player you have played with:

That's a really tough one......but at a push Spike

Best player you have played against:

I played about 15 minutes against Notts Forest in a testimonial for Roy McDonald about 6 years ago, and was up against Stuart Pearce. He tackled me at one stage and I thought I'd broke my arm. The fact was he played the ball perfectly!

Who has been your most difficult opponent:

Noel Bailie, and then later Glen Dunlop.

You’ve played in New Zealand, in Europe with Linfield and also represented the British Universities, what other country would you like to experience playing football in and why:

I'm currently holidaying in Australia, and having heard so many stories from Norman Kelly I would probaly have to say Oz. The climate and the lifestyle are great.

Favourite sport other than football:

Tennis.

You appear quite laid back on the pitch, do you suffer from nerves and if so how do you try to relax before big games:

Most players will experience nerves of some description before all games, but it usually goes away after the kick-off. I try not to change my routine before any game.

Have you any superstitions, or pre-match rituals:

Again most players have certain rituals and things they like to do. The only real thing I like is to get out on the pitch early for a good long warm-up.

I’ve seen some Irish League players at the Belfast Giants ice hockey games, have you been to any games and if so what did you think:

Haven't been to any Giants games although it is my intention to get to some when I get home. I think that the people behind it should be praised because what they are doing is obvioulsy working. I mean they've taken a sport, in which most of the people at home wouldn't have even known the rules of a few months ago, and sold it. Football is our national game and the governing bodies can't even sell that to the public.

Do you see the success of ice hockey as a threat to the future of the Irish League:

With the appropriate marketing and PR then there is no reason why football in N.I. cannot flourish again. As I said previously football is our national game. One of the main problems is that there are so many games on a Saturday afternoon, which must surely affect attendances. How many ice-hockey games are played on a Friday night?!

If the Blues were to only win one, which would give you greatest pleasure, a third successive League Title, or an Irish Cup win (to complete your set, I think?)

Another league medal purely because the best team always wins the league.

An article in an online New Zealand newspaper described you as "arguably the finest professional for the Capital since the late Justin Fashanu at Miramar Rangers". Were you aware of this, and how does it feel to be compared to a player such as Fashanu:

Obviously it was nice to be compared to a player of that calibre, but to be honest I think he may have been exaggerating slightly!

Favourite music:

House music and indie type bands.

Favourite movie:

Have a few......Pulp Fiction, Scent of a Woman, This Boys Life, It's a Wonderful Life.

Favourite actor/actress:

Al Pacino. No particular favourite actress.

Chris 'Homer' Morgan
If you could be a cartoon character which would it be and why:

Homer Simpson - he's always lying around, eating and drinking beer!

Pepsi or Coke:

Coke everytime.

If you could arrange your own mini music festival, which 5 artists past or present, would you invite to play:

The Beatles, Coldplay, REM, Moby and Kylie Minogue...........no music, just dancing about in hot-pants!
