Rookes Ironmonger & Nat West Bank Some of the older buildings in the village. Rookes has been a family business since 1907 when Percy Rook moved here from another location in the village. The Manchester & County Bank as it was originally was built in 1909 and was described as one of the more ornate buildings in the village. The shop next to the bank is a newsagents but was built, again in 1909, as the new Post Office. |

Stockport Rd by Vale Cottage Vale cottages were built in the early 1800's but the remaining two were made into one in the 1970's. Opposite the cottages was Vale House which was occupied by the Knowles family in about 1900. The cottages were the only buildings between the Hare & Hounds and the Quarry Bank in the 19th century. |

Park Road This view of Park road is taken towards its junction with Moss Lane from outside the Holy Cross Church. Park Road used to be called Wash Lane and connected Stockport Road with "Washway" (now Manchester Road) at "Four Lane Ends" in Timperley Village - the junction of Stockport Road, Thorley Lane and Park Road. |
Stockport Rd by Timperley Library This view of Stockport Rd is looking towards Baguely with the sign for Timperley Garage just visible. The newer building on the right was the position occupied by a pub - The Railway Inn which had been built in the 1860's. The railway line itself is just beyond the trees in the distance, as is the current Timperley boundary. |
