TIMPERLEY STATION

Although other types of train pass through Timperley (e.g. Diesels to Chester from Manchester and goods trains) most of Timperley's commuters use the fast and efficient trams shown in the photograph. They run at regular and frequent intervals, although they get very crowded at peak times.

This stock is due to be replaced with more modern trams, which are expected to be faster and more comfortable.

BRIDGEWATER CANAL at TIMPERLEY STATION

The Bridgewater Canal runs parallel to the railway line through Timperley, and after its construction opened up trade for the village. It was also used by commuters for travel into Manchester in its early days.

Now it is of mainly recreational use for walking, boating, and fishing. Several mooring places are dotted along the canal in the Timperley, Sale, Altrincham area.
