St Albans Folk Music

St Albans Folk Music organises pub sessions, workshops linked to concerts and an annual 'New roots' competition for young musicians. It is a part of the 'Folk at the Festival' Committee which organises folk music, dance and song events for the two yearly St Albans festival.

New Roots 2008 Competition for young musicians. The finals took place on on Sunday April 13 2008 in St Albans. The judges were Eliza Carthy, Pete Coe, Lynne Heraud and Andy Stafford.  For further details, click here.

St Albans Folk at the Festival, 2008  St Albans  Arts Festival will run from June 20 to July 6 and the 'Folk at the Festival' weekend will take place from June 27-29 2008. It will include a concert featuring Zoox at Redbourn Village Hall on Friday June 27, a procession and day of dance followed by a ceilidh with Nick Walden and the Committee Band on Saturday June 28 and a day of workshops with Steph West and others on Sunday June 29, followed by a concert featuring the New Rope String Band, at the Maltings Arts Theatre .
Other folk music and dance events will take place during the festival period. St Michael's Street Folk evening will be on Wednesday July 2 2008.
