St Albans Folk Music

St Albans Folk Music organises pub sessions, workshops linked to concerts and an annual 'New roots' competition for young musicians. It is a part of the 'Folk at the Festival' Committee which organises folk music, dance and song events for the two yearly St Albans festival.

New Roots 2009 Competition for young musicians. The finals will take place on Sunday April 26 2009. The judges will be Nancy Kerr, James Fagan, Lynne Heraud and Andy Stafford. For further details, click here.

Traditional music sessions, on Thursdays at the Rose and Crown, 9pm.
Second Sundays We are no longer running Second Sunday events at the Rose and Crown, but will put on ocasional events on a one off basis. Details will appear on this site.

St Albans Folk at the Festival, 2009 St Albans Festival will run from June 20 to July 5 and the 'Folk at the Festival' weekend will take place from June 26-28 2009. Our main events are the Festival concert on Friday June 26 at 8pm at the Abbey Theatre, Holywell Hill, featuring Nancy Kerr, James Fagan and Rob Harbron, plus New Roots 2009 finalists Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrell, chosen by James and Nancy. Saturday will start with the Festival Parade and Day of Dance and end with the Festival Ceilidh with Stomp and caller Barry Goodman. Other folk music and dance events will take place during the festival period. St Michael's Street Folk evening will be on Wednesday July 1 2009.
