Inverary Castle, Loch Fyne.
A branch of the MacVicars of Kintyre
settled in Loch Fyne in the 11th century under the leadership of Baron
MacVicar. Through Baron MacVicar’s generosity of a gift of land, clan
Campbell gained a foothold in the area and built Inverary Castle. A standing
stone to the clan MacVicar once stood on the lawn of Inverary Castle but
it was removed in order to eradicate all memory of the clan to whom the
land once belonged.
