The future is for electronic books!

More about

"The Really Current Ophthalmology"

Electronic book

Introduction

My goal of writing this book is to provide the reader with a book that will continuously be expanded and updated. In my opinion the only way to keep up with all the developments in medicine and ophthalmology is by keeping up with the literature.

In this age, when medical knowledge is changing with such an alarming speed, it will be very difficult to provide such a book in the usual printed format. It would be much easier and much more practical to produce such a book in an electronic format. I intend to update my book every three months, and by doing this I hope, I will be able to provide the reader with a REALLY CURRENT and up to date book. My book is meant to complement other basic ophthalmology books. I believe the book can make a useful addition to every ophthalmologist’s library. It will complement other basic textbooks, and it will also save on the time spent in the library looking through the ophthalmic journals. I intend to expand the book, add photos and diagrams and also possibly produce the book on a CD rather than a floppy disc.

I have added a new chapter about basic ophthalmology. This chapter would be useful for all non-ophthalmologists who deal with eye problems. It contains basic textbook ophthalmology, which is aimed at guiding non-ophthalmologists who deal with eye problems. It provides the basic manifestations of the common eye problems, how to deal with them and indications for when to referral for a specialist opinion.

 How to use the Book?

I have used a computer program called "Adobe acrobat" to programme the book. This program enables easy transfer of electronic publications and data between all different computers. To be able to read my book, the reader will need to have the reader part of the program "Acrobat-reader" installed on his / her computer. This programme is free-share. You may have the "Acrobat-reader" programme installed on your computer already. It is often distributed freely with most of the computer magazines. It can also be downloaded freely from the Internet by clicking http://www.adobe.com and then following the instructions on the screen. You may like to do this now. Once this programme is installed, it will be very easy to use the floppy disc in the usual way. You can either run the disc from the floppy disc drive or you can transfer it to the hard disc drive.
