Comparing Original  Region 1 with Original Region 2 DVD

There are quiet a few differences between the 2000 US 'Hybrid' version and the original UK release of Manhunter. Here together with some frame grabs we
will discover some of these differences. Some are changes are minor, While others are quite surprising.


REGION 2 - UK 1999 REGION 1 - US 2001

An easy one to miss and very minor, but it's there so it gets a mention.
Also the DEG Lion intro is absent from the UK DVD although it there on the VHS widescreen version.

Just comparing the first shot in the movie reveals how this shot is framed and colour-graded differently.

This shot of the staircase in torchlight highlight how much more detail is revealed in the Region 1 version.

The Leeds' children's bedroom panning shot is reframed revealing more upper picture information such as the Space Shuttle poster on the wall.

When Mrs. Leeds rises from the bed, a subtle slow motion effect is more evident.
Of course this is impossible to reproduce in a jpeg but just look at the detail on the US disc.
