Paperback writer: Rhys Wilcox has written his first book. Photo by Nick ffrench. A house-husband has juggled a life of vampires and children to finally see his first novel publshed. Spooky writer Rhys Wilcox of Chandler Close, Southgate now hopes his ghoulish debut book Blood Lust will have enough bite when it hits the bookstands. The 31 year old started his comedy/horror novel a decade ago and it took him five years to finish it and another five years to convince anyone to ublish it. He explained It has been a massive struggle to get people to even look at it never mind read it. However last year I struck lucky and a new publishing company Elliot and Mackenzie were just starting out and were making a habit of reading every manuscript they were sent. Luckily they liked it and now I am just awaiting its release which should be in the next few weeks. The novel tells the story of how a vampire hunter is desperate to bring Leeds under human control after it becomes overrun with vampires. Rhys said I just hope it does well. I know this sort of genre is not really the stuff that makes it to the top of the book charts but hopefully people will find it interesting. In between being a house husband Rhys has also managed to pen a sequel to Blood Lust and is currently half way through the third and final installment.
He added It is quite tough being a house-husband and trying to write but every spare moment I find I get down to the book. I could quite easily write for hours. And once he finishes the third book in the trilogy he plans to move into other genres such as science fiction and fantasy, but for now he is quite happy to find any free moment to pen his latest words.
