Please refer to the British Orienteering Federation Rules Appendix One.
For digitised representations of the pictorial symbols see the orienteering font or the program and OCAD files “pictorial” by Martin Green.
Pictorial descriptions are an international standard for control description lists.
Although they are not strictly necessary in a mapping document, the fact that their definitions do not always coincide with the International Specification for Orienteering Maps means that they need to be considered when drawing.
The ISOM topic list includes pictorial information from the British Orienteering Federation Rules 1997 edition.
