Loosely inserted in the first edition was a 'Top Secret Docket' containing 10 documents purporting to have originated from the President of the USA and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, tracing the sequence of events leading up to the start of the story in the book. The docket and documents are illustrated below.
This is the first Deighton novel to have a full colour dustjacket, which was designed, as were the jackets of the previous novels, by Raymond Hawkey.
