Pied Piper Concert

We performed at the 1999 Pied Piper Concert on the 1st of December along with the Abbey School Choir, organist from the Abbey and a very talented Mezzo Soprano who I can not remenber her name (Sorry if you see this).

There was between 900 - 1000 in the audience who seemed to thoroughly enjoy it

The guest speaker where Dr Mark Porter who I'm sure you've seen on the telly and Fiona Fullerton who stared in James Bond "A View To A Kill".

If you would like to hear this concert it will be used as the  BBC Radio Gloucestershires Christmas concert starting Approximately 8.00am on Christmas morning.

Christmas Concert

On Suday 19th December we had our Christmas concert at the Roses Theatre, it was a sell out of over 350 people.

The Queen margaret School choir joined us and if anyone from the school sees this we would like to thank them very much.

The whole night was a great success and everyone enjoyed the music we played and the soloists of the night Martin Musto who played (SATCHMO by Kenny Baker)on Cornet and Denise Westwood who played (Over The Rainbow by Goff Richards) on Horn.

The last thanks goes to the band as a whole you performed in their usual professional manner

Since our Christmas conert we have been to two contest. The first was the West of England Regional Championships. We played "Haslemere Suite", we all felt the band played the best they could and the result of 6 out of 28 proved this. We now have it all to play for next year as we will be top of the rankings for the West of England Fourth Section, so a top 10 position should see us up into the Third Section. The other contest was the Marlborough Entertainments Contest. Again we did very well taking the "Most Entertaining Band" prize, "Best Hymn" prize and coming Second overall CONGRATULATIONS BAND Let's keep it up

We have just competed in our first contest since our success at Marlbrough with even more success, we became the GBBA fourth section champions for the second year running (Nice one band) On behalf of the band I would like to thank two player from Group 4 Winchcombe Concert Brass Jim Mason (soprano and Stuart McCalister Solo Cornet) with out them we would not have been able to enter the contest also of cause Winchcombe band themselves for letting us borrow them Cheers Guys and finally Nigel our conductor for his hard work in preparing the test piece which was Phillip Sparke's - Triptych WELL DONE EVERYONE Hattrick next year
