So we flew the dunes at Klienkrans instead, except Simon couldn't launch for toffee
Richie and Matt got to Paradise from here anyway!
Brigette and Bernhard were two Germans also staying with Jan - total nutters.
Next flying at the Map of Africa, the other end of the ridge from Pardise (seen in the distance on the right).
And Wilderness just isn't complete without flying at the Holiday Inn:
Sometime or other we went to Du Toits, where we took off through the scrub to get away from these arse-burrowing ostrich fleas.
Some of us had fun herding ostriches and then being herded by them ourselves.
Except Richie, who wasn’t fussed about some more fleas but didn’t like the thought of ostriches.
This animals business started to get serious – we went to see heffalumps in the rain, egged on by Brigitte.
Having got the itch to see animals (I blame the ostrich fleas myself) – some of us went to the Karoo where we saw meat pies…
….. and zebra crossings - 3 of them crossing the road at the same time – but it was too dark to get the picture
Apparently some of the others saw even stranger kinds of animals in the fleshpots of Capetown – ask Richie if you really want to know?
And so to Porterville - because we thought the flying might be good! The combie broke down so we borrowed a yellow peril pick up
And the flying was good! Here’s a couple of shots from a snappy 53km flown by yours truly. Matt got several 50k flights – but then he knows the site… and the rest of us got a few 25k + flights each. Not bad eh!
Even Richie flew his pants off – it’s official. Apparently its what you do if you are a good sport (pilot).
Glass of wine, sir?
We also picked up various leaves & plants which later came in very useful…
…for a nice evening barbecue with added spice
The next day was a bit blurry ............... Guess its all par for the course ... when you’re in with the in-crowd
