STRACHAN QUITS SOUTHAMPTON EARLIER THAN EXPECTED

Gordan Strachan today announced he has quit Southampton with immediate effect. There was a feeling of deja view around St Mary's today, Strachan had already announced his resignation once, but he was due to leave at the end of the season. However, a run of bad form since his announcement has force Strachan into quitting three months ahead of schedule. Reserve team boss Steve Wigley will take charge until the end of the season, when ex manager Glen Hoddle is expected to return to the south coast club - something which worries the Saints fans. Hoddle, however has pleaded with the Southampton fans to give him another chance, whilst chairman Richard Lowe has tried to calm down the Southampton faithful by announcing that Hoddle is one of many options being considered.

Will he or won't he, it seems that he will, against the will of Southampton fans.
