Liverpool finally completed their first double over a team this season with a 4-0 thumping of Blackburn at Anfield. Micheal Owen opened the scoring on 7 minutes, the lead was then doubled when some clever play from Diouf forced Todd into an own goal, Owen then made the game safe with just 24 minutes gone scoring with a thunderous shot past Friedel. Rovers were better in the second half but Heskey finished late onto make it 4.

Aston Villa 1-1 Man.City

Aston Villa couldn't take all three points off indifferent City at Villa Park despite taking the lead. The man who gave them the lead was Juan Pablo Angel, starting the match despite playing for Columbia in midweek. A carbon copy of the first goal from Sylvain Distin levelled the match.

Some suberb keeping from keeper Maik Taylor kept Birmingham in the match after Fulham had mostly dominated. A long range effort from Malbranque was part of a wonderful collection of stops for the Blues keeper.

 
Middlesbourgh 2-0 Bolton

Carling Cup finalists Middlesbourgh and Bolton went head to head for the first time since the final and the outcome was the same as Boro ran away with all three points. An unfortunate own goal from Kevin Nolan early on gave Mclaren's side the advantage and a goal just after half time from Englishman Greening made the score 2-0 with all 3 ponits in the bag.

Newcastle made hard work of a match that should have been easily won at St.James park. Graig Bellamy opened the scoring just 5 minutes in but a first away goal for Thomas Gravesen levelled the scores. It werent for long though as Dyer put the Magpies back in the lead just 9 minutes later. Alan Shearer got the first of two to put the game seemingly safe but Yobo capilitised from scrappy defending to give the Merseysiders hope 10 minutes from time only for Shearer to get Newcastle's forth on 90.

Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea continued their good form over Tottenham with a slender 1-0 win over their London rivals. The only goal of the game after some Spurs pressure in the first half, when Frank Lampard fed the ball to Duff on the wing who provided the perfect cross for Hasselbaink to finish.

Wolves' woes near the wrong end of the table continued as Saints thumped the men in Gold 4-1 with goals from Beattie, Lundekvam and a Kevin Phillips barce give the visitors all 3 points. Henri Camara got Wolverhampton's only goal of the game.
