Millwall 0-0 Rovers

John Achterberg produced a fine display to earn Tranmere a replay at Prenton Park. The Dutchmans main acheivment was saving a Kevin Muscat penalty with a world class save. Muscat, the ozzie hard man, cheekily sent the spot kick straight down the middle of Achterberg's goal but the risk did not pay off for the Millwall defender as Achterberg got a strong hand to the ball and sent it over the bar. In the first half the man of the match also pulled off another fabulous save from Tim Cahill's point blank header, doing well to push it over the bar. Tranmere did come close with a Gareth Roberts Cross-shot which Andy Marshall did well to push wide. But in the end solid defending and a bit of look kept Rovers in the competition.

Dennis Wise later reveiled he was distraught with himself for not taking the penalty which in the end decided thye match.

QPR Game Cancelled

Todays clash with promotion hopefuls QPR has been cancelled due to a frozen pitch. Officials called off the game at 11:00 after a pitch inspection saying the pitch was to hard in areas.

Onuora Signs

Veteran striker Iffy Onuora today(fri) signed a year long contract for Rovers. He had been very much out of the picture at former club Grimsby and was released when his contract ran out. He also worked with Rovers assistant Richard at Gillingham and has scored over 130 goals in 500 competitive appearances.

Rushden 2-1 Rovers

Tranmere undeservadle came away from Nene Park with no points as they were beaten for the first time since Boxing Day. The North-East side opened the scoring before Danny Harrison grabbed his first for the club to draw scores level after 65 minutes. Rushdens Gary Mills the got the winner against the run of play with a neat counter attack.

Oldham 1-1 Rovers

Eugene Dadi rescued a point for midtable Tranmere who stretched their unbeaten run to 13 games. The home side went ahead through a Scott Vernon effort before Ryan Taylors 87th minute cross was not cleared and Dadi tucked it into the bottom corner.

Goodison Signs

Jamaican international defender Ian Goodison made his debut today against Oldham after signing for the Merseysiders in midweek. The 30 year old who has made over 100 caps for his country and worked with manager Brian Little for three succesful seasons at Hull.

Rovers 3-0 Plymouth

Two goals from leading scorer Eugene Dadi and a well worked move from Iain Hume saw Tranmere knock Plymouth off the top of the table. Fashion Guru Dadi scored the first with an excellent header from a micky mellon corner before Iain Hume completed a tidy move from the Tranmere midfield. The third came when pressure from rovers prevailed and David Friio gifted Dadi his second and Tranmere's third to complete the route.

Rovers 2-1 Swansea
A lively match at Prenton Park saw the home side come out on top. From the start the atmosphere in the ground was electric as both sets of fans urged their sides on all the way through the match. Each team had chances from the outset but it was ex Rovers man, Andy Robinson who broke the deadlock 16 minutes into the game, stabbing home a cross from the right. 6 minutes later Swansea failed to clear the danger and a cross was swung in by Gareth Roberts towards Dadi who was pushed to the ground by Alan Tate. Ryan Taylor clamly sloted home the resulting penalty to draw scores level at the break.
Swansea looked the sharper after the interval but it was Rovers who took the lead through a Iain Hume thunderbolt on 59 minutes. Swansea then piled on the pressure in the last 20 minutes but Rovers kept tight at the back and held on for the win.
Tranmere will now play Millwall on the 7th of March in the Quarter Finals.

Rovers 1-1 Blackpool
Rovers could only manage a draw against the tangerine army. Iain Hume resucuded a point for the home side who went 1-0 down to a goal from former Tranmere man Scott Taylor.
