Mossvale Community Church

Initially based in a local tenement flat in Shortroods, the vision was established through the two Church of Scotland churches, St James and Wallneuk North, then forming a working alliance with ourselves - Mossvale Community Church and St James Roman Catholic Church, as well as with other local community forums.

After years of preparation STAR opened it's doors in November 1999. The Star Project exists to help the people of the North End of Paisley find fullness of life i.e. help each person grow and fulfil their unique potential in every area of their life: physical, spiritual, emotionally, and socially.

In 2006, the regeneration of the area meant STAR had to move. Now located at 12 Wallace Street, just off Love Street, STAR continues to provide support to the people of the North of Paisley.

A drop-in operates each weekday morning, with a playroom with toys for pre-school children and volunteer welcomers providing the tea and banter. Other services include the nappy co-op and savings clubs, health groups and advice sessions. STAR provides many training oppportunities in areas such as First Aid and Food Hygiene, and activities and outreach to the local youth population.

STAR also facilitates a weekly prayer time, and community worship opportunities at Easter and Christmas. Although Star's identity and practice are rooted in the Christian faith, they also work with other groups and agencies that strive towards the same goals for the community, without regard to their faith position.
