St Mirren is Paisley's
Football Club, currently in the Scottish Premier Division.
As a lifelong supporter, Pastor Hugh Chalk was both delighted and
honoured to have been appointed Team Chaplain at the start of season
2004-2005, in association with SCORE Scotland. He hopes to be an encouragement
and a source of support to all the players and staff.
St Mirren's Stadium
often known as 'Love Street' actually has it's away-side entrance
at the start of Greenock Road, just a few hundred yards along from
the doors of Mossvale Community Church (near enough for us to hear
the roar when they score!)
St
Mirren and Mossvale have been close neighbours for a long time, with
the team moving to it's present grounds in 1894, just ten years after
our church was built.
This picture is
Pastor Hugh Chalk's youngest son sleeping soundly through the celebrations
at Love Street when they topped the 1st division in 2000!
More can be learnt
about the current team on their official
website, or 'momentous moments' from it's past on the historical
database.
