Our American guests

In the first half of 2004 we had three very different visits from teams from the USA.

April

Eastertime passed so quickly and we packed a lot in! Our guests were a touring cast and production team of 'Spellbound', sometimes known as 'Toymaker and Son'. All the way from North Cobb Christian School, Georgia, thirty members of the North Atlanta School of the Arts performed in Paisley and around the Scottish countryside. Venues included our local primary school, a capacity performance at the chapel at Stirling Castle, Inverness and Drumnadrochit! The team also found time to hold a fun workshop with our drama group, and ended their trip on a high with a traditional Scottish ceilidh.

May

In May we commenced renovation and restoration work on the Mossvale Hall adjacent to the Church. The amount we have achieved in such a short space of time is due to the hard work and sacrifice of a Construction Mission Team from Seacoast Church, South Carolina (more details on their website) and of course our own volunteers.
We demolished walls, ripped out the toilets and discarded the central heating system.
The piece de resistance was the new roof! Everyone worked so hard, and took very little time to hit the tourist trail or even the shops! We had a fanatastic time as we built toilet cubicles and good friends, and found a small window to relax when we went to Luss and baptised team member Kelly Hillman in Loch Lomond!

June

Finally in June we were re-visited by the Mount Paran North Church of God Youth Group from Atlanta. (When they first visited in 1998 one teenager fell in love with Scotland
and returned and married our then Youth Leader!) We were again able to introduce Jeff, Carrie and the gang to the dizzy pleasures of ceilidh dancing and the grim reality of outreach in wet Scottish town centres!
