The department offers practice placements for student nurses undertaking the Diploma of Higher education (Nursing). Placements usually last between 3 and 10 weeks. We also provide placements for international european students as part of the Socrates Erasmus programme and for Student nurses undertaking the BSc programme.

Many of the qualified staff have attained the ENB 998 teaching and assessing course, allowing them to provide quality mentorship. Many of the staff also have specialist interests, and provide teaching input in these areas.

The opportunity to experience the work of the emergency services, in particular the paramedics, is also provided.
