Currently the A&E department is part of the Liverpool
rotation for medical students in their final year. These students
spend 8 weeks working on the shop floor alongside the medical staff
and are directly involved in supervised patient care.
There are regular teaching sessions for the SHOs which students are expected to attend, as well as the opportunity to spend a
day with a Paramedic crew on an Emergency Ambulance. If the flying squad is called out during an attachment Medical students are
encouraged to go out on the call.
As part of the assessment students are expected to produce a written report based on an interesting case from their attachment
as well as an MCQ that is completed and marked informally.
We also have Elective Students who join us for variable lengths of time
from both the UK and Europe.
We are led to believe by previous students that A&E at the RLI is a sought after attachment……
