Church Away Day
20th April 2008 --Somewhere in the dim and distant past the idea of a day apart was mooted and thought to be a sound proposition, and so it was that on a damp and chilly April morning a group of us upped sticks from our usual Harvington base and met at Red Hill Christian Centre near Stratford.
If anyone out there is reading this who might be considering this idea for their own fellowship - then it comes highly recommended. The beautifully lit and furnished 17th century barn was our venue for worship - and most of the days activities, although there was another wonderful small gallery room furnished with squishy sofas - just perfect for small groups or for those feeling in need of a post lunch kip! It was wonderful to be a part of a group but for once to be a participator rather than an organiser or leader as sometimes we can be on overload in a small fellowship - and Peter Coggins and his team from Worcester led us wonderfully through our morning service and afternoon discussion groups. As one member said - a good day we were challenged and encouraged in equal measure!
It was the kind of day that makes people look up and say there's a patch of blue up there somewhere - or I think its getting brighter as the steady downpour turns to drizzle but the day was organised so that the weather didn't matter, as you can see from the photo a few of us explored some of the sixty acres of grounds and found the cross on the hill before returning to the centre for afternoon tea. Red Hill host their own special days through the spring and summer months - and it is worth exploring their web site.
