Growing in to the 21st Century!
The chapel has been standing for 120 years. We are extending the existing building and improving the interior to make it more user friendly for the 21st century. An additional room (appearing on the left in the plan) will provide much needed space for meetings, junior church and youth work, as well as 'quiet space' for prayer ministry.
Work has started on the extension to our Chapel! A roof would be nice given the weather!
Eventually, after working under difficult conditions during a very wet summer, the roof did arrive and we now have an almost complete extension! Windows coming soon!
The windows are still on going - although we have lovely new windows in the extension, the main body of the chapel is still awaiting installation of replacement windows which unfortunately had to be returned to the manufacturer, but hopefully it will not be too long now.
Just the internals to work on now. When the concrete floor has dried out, and when the bulk of the 'messy' internal work is complete, like the ceiling tiles being removed, we will install carpet tiles in the entrance area and new room.
The big space on the wall is for a new notice board so everyone can see what's happening and where.
Although we are still a work in progress, and things may not have always gone as smoothly as we hoped, summer 2008 should see the completion of the next phase of renovation, helping us to better meet the needs of a 21st century community.
