Question - What is on the notice board outside the chapel? I know you would all be able to tell me what is on our interior B.M.S notice board!!
I wonder if anyone just walking past our church, has stopped to read any notices.
I often find myself glancing at notice boards outside churches when wandering around on holiday. The notices there, seem to give you an idea of the sort of people you'd probably find if you joined them for one of their services. The holiday season is upon us. If you see an interesting church notice board, why not make a note and share it with us in the next magazine. One I saw some years ago, stuck in my mind:
"Are U missing from CH_RCH ?"
One I saw on holiday last year, puzzled me. It read:
Dnt WorE, PrA n Godz Pc WL FL Ur Hrt
Phil 4. 6 -7 Len On Me

I must ask our grandchildren to show me how to send 'texts' on our mobile. I know how to switch it 'on' and 'off' !!!

To Those I Love
When I am gone, release me. Let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many beautiful years. I gave to you my love. You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now its time I travelled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. Its only for a while that we must part. So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear All my love around you, soft and clear.
And then when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say- "Welcome Home."
We probably wouldn't worry about what people think of us, if we could know how seldom they do.
Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age, sometimes age just shows up all by itself.
Healing comes when you realise the light at the end of the tunnel is NOT a train
My mind has many good ideas, but its not always easy to squeeze one out!
The only difference between a stumbling block and a stepping stone is the way you use it.
People are like tea bags, you have to put them in hot water before you find out how strong they are.
The pastor of a church was becoming increasingly frustrated by a man who always fell asleep during the sermon. One Sunday he decided to do something about it.
At the end of a sermon on hell, the pastor, speaking in a normal voice said, "Anyone hear who wants to go to hell..." Then in a much louder voice "PLEASE STAND UP!"
This woke the sleeping parishioner up, and he immediately jumped to his feet. After collecting himself, he addressed the pastor. "Pastor, I don't know why I'm standing, but it appears you and I are in this together!"
Thank you for the feed back on church development plans. We will keep you informed as things progress and give a report at the next church meeting in September.
Would you like to be part of something really special? Some time ago now we asked members to indicate if they would like to be partnered with another member of the fellowship for prayer and support, a 'first point of call' if you like, within the church. Feed back has been really positive so far, and one or two people have expressed an interest since we began in how this works. It is simply a case of finding a mutually convenient time to get together for prayer, and having another person at the end of the telephone you can call and ask to pray for you.....its also a wonderful friendship link. If you would like more info. And/or would like to be partnered with someone, or if, conversely if its not possible to find a mutually convenient time with your partner, let us know and we'll be happy to help

Finally, a deeply moving tribute to his wife Pat, from a much loved member of our church.
How brave of you to take the risk that only death may gain,
Determined that no matter what, Your risk may be in vain,
To me, left behind to mourn, the love that I have lost,
I ask the lord to take you home and grant eternal rest.
Lord, the day has dawned, the sun is up, the kettle on, two tea bags please --oh no--
Just one.
Paul
