Please don't throw away any aged blankets, towels or car rugs, there are 120 dogs up the road (DogsTrust (NCDL) Wickhamford) who need them! Pass to Lynn and I will see they get there. |

Defining the Shape of Mission Today
Ask a congregation what B.M.S. World Mission does, and you'll get as many answers as there are people! There is now a definitive answer to this question - and a poster series to communicate this message in a unique way.
The 6 major areas of B.M.S. work are highlighted, using a different shape for each. The shape posters feature real stories about real people whose lives are better now because of B.M.S. Support. The final poster in the set brings all 6 shapes together, because mission isn't one shape, but many covering:
1. Church planting - making Jesus known.
2. Development - helping communities help themselves.
3. Disaster relief - delivering help quickly.
4. Education - building people up.
5. Health - promoting total well-being.
6. Media - speaking out boldly.
B.M.S do all of these things, all of the time, all over the world. The education one says 'Chichico can read now', that's because mike and Daveen taught him.
We are doing a series, based on the 'shape' posters in our fellowship meetings. Why not join us for the last few, or ask to borrow the leaders book when we've finished and read it yourself, you'll be glad you did.

Saturday 11th January saw 36 of us get together to enjoy the new year party with lots of food, games and entertainment. Approx. half the people there were under 30 which is very encouraging. The entertainment during coffee was excellent and at 10 pm we finished the evening by joining hands and singing auld lang syne. It was a good fun evening enjoyed by all age groups.
Big thanks to everyone who helped.
I came across this quotation in "Woman Alive" - February 2003 in an article about marriage and the relationship between husbands and wives.
Matthew Henry's commentary says:
"Woman was.....not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected and near his heart to be beloved."
If you're new, passing through or just wondering, some info you may find useful about us.
We meet every Sunday at 11 for worship, services last a about an hour with coffee afterwards, first Sunday in month is always communion. We enjoy a number of visiting speakers as well as members of our own congregation who lead services.
Busy bags and children's table at back, please feel free to help yourselves. We also have a lending library, with lower shelf just for children.
Prayer Breakfast - what does it mean?
Not necessarily the full English, although it can be! With a bottomless coffee pot its a fun very informal get together, usually around 8.30ish on a Saturday with a short time of open prayer and a talk from a visiting speaker. Held occasionally.
Fellowship lunch - what's that?
Several times a year with a few weeks notice, lunch held after Sunday service, family and friends always very welcome. From a catering point of view it helps us to know numbers, so if you can sign the sheet as it appears at the back of the chapel, with name number etc. That's great. Food suggestions to bring listed. If you find yourself visiting on one of these occasions, please stay we'd love to have you join us.
Tuesday evening fellowship group - what happens here?
A midweek 'find a spot on the carpet' get together in someone's home with a short time of singing, prayer, and a look at how the Bible and God's word affects our lives today. Alternate Tuesdays 8:00p.m. List of venues in chapel, also given out in notices.
There is transport available to these and any other events held, all you need do is ask.
