No Beeps
|
- No power to System, or
- If power present, then
possible motherboard failure
- (some systems will not
beep if the memory is dead)

Single Beep
|
Normal Operation
|
|
Single Beep, but nothing on screen
|
- Check screen light is
on, if not check power to screen.
- If screen OK, then
check memory fitted correctly.
- If screen & memory
OK, floppy drive power cable not on all 4 pins
|
|
3 Long Beeps
|
Video card out of slot, or on older machines this, or cable from screen
not attached correctly to 3 row female card connector at back of PC.

|
Continuos Beep
|
- If PC has been on for a
while, this is likely to be an over-heat alarm. Check CPU is
on/operable. If OK check BIOS Setup, if CPU Fan alarm is
enabled but there is no alarm on fan - change this to DISABLE. Note
leave CPU overheat alarm Enabled.
- Also check that Main
Power Unit fan is blowing if not, do not use PC until a New Power Unit
is fitted.
- If continuous signal
immediately on power up then check jumpers on motherboard, especially
CPU speed & multiplier jumpers.
