Dialer

 

To get the Dialer:

In Window 98:

Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, Phone Dialer

In Window 95:

Start, Programs, Accessories, Phone Dialer

 

You can type a number in the Number to dial: window or click the series of numbers using the dialing pad...and then click the Dial button underneath ...

...however you can register a number with Speed dial: so that a button for that number appears in the Speed dial: section.

 

To start using this feature:

 

 

Use Edit, Speed Dial

Select a blank button and then type a name and the number to dial into the windows below the button

 

Click the Save button to register the number

 The new number is now registered and is seen in the Speed dial: section.

To dial a number now, simply single left click the relevant button in the Speed dial section. The number dials and gives:

 At this stage you can hang up, but if not let it connect to get Call Status window:

Click Talk. When the call is over, use Hang Up

 

This concludes the use of the Dialer.

Advantages:

  • Easy location and dialing of telephone numbers
  • Avoids dailing errors
  • Keeps a log (Tools, Show Log)

Disadvantages:

  • Speed Dial only holds 8 numbers
