BBS Charges: On connecting to a BBS, you receive a white or
coloured front screen - usually you have to enter twice for anything to
appear. After which you may see a menu with a prompt mark waiting for you to
make an input. Be aware the BBS's that allow you to download free usually make their money from a percentage of a high premium, peak call charge (e.g: £0.50 per minute). You can find BBS's on normal lines but you have to pay a subscription fee before you can download files. |
Other Services:
Some companies offer services accessible via
terminal links such as HyperTerminal and these are not high premium cost lines.
They exist to give service to customers e.g: downloading programs such as BIOS,
drivers...etc. The same companies will usually have a web-site which you can
access via the Internet

** To gain access to files and printers on another computer running Windows, ...................then use Dial-Up Networking rather than HyperTerminal. |
