The Cardiff Cycling Campaign is not just another cycling club! We campaign to improve the lot of cyclists in and
around Cardiff.
KEEPING CARDIFF MOVING?
According to Cardiff council's own web site,
"Cardiff's transport system is reaching crisis point. Encouraging motorists to car share or to switch from their
cars to using public transport, walking or cycling for some jouneys is the key to solving Cardiff's transport
problems."
They state that "Cardiff is becoming an increasingly cycle-friendly city with 80km of cycle routes". We disagree.
Some of these cycle routes are no more than lines on the map, with nothing but blue "cycling permitted" signs
to show that bikes are indeed allowed on the road. The Western Cycling Corridor, never completed, is now to be
ripped out in order to provide more car parking in the new controlled parking zone. Cyclists are banned from the
Cogan Spur for the next 18 months and now also banned permanently from the A470 north of Cardiff. The St Davids 2 devlopment is
closing the only safe cycle route through the city centre, and the proposed traffic ban on St Mary St at
weekends will also include bikes, causing a huge diversion just to get across town. In spite of all their fine
words, Cardiff is less cycle-friendly than ever, and the erosion of cycle facilites continues apace. If you want
to do something about this state of affairs, then join us.
We publish a regular newsletter - On Your Bike,
and organise a weekly schedule of evening bike rides.
Members can also get discounts on bikes and accessories at local bike shops.
Our monthly meetings are normally held on the second Monday of each month.

St Davids 2 - Public Inquiry We objected to the stopping up of highways order in relation to the St Davids 2 development in the city centre.
This triggered a Public Inquiry held on 23rd-26th May. We still await the results.
Rush Hour Challenge We challenged senior Cardiff Councillors and Council Officers to cycle across Cardiff city centre in rush hour.
A470 page Cyclists are to be banned from the A470 between Nantgarw and Coryton.
Cogar spur page Cyclists are banned from the Cogan Spur bridge during construction of a road into the Sports Village.
