Sustrans Wales Working Rides
Every Tuesday throughout spring and summer, leading sustainable transport charity, Sustrans, is inviting people to join 'Wales Working Rides' on the National Cycle Network. Each week a different part of the National Cycle Network in Wales will be chosen to benefit from minor maintenance like cutting back vegetation, litter picking and checking direction signs are in place. Work like this ensures these routes for walkers, cyclists, and wheelchair users are safe and attractive to use.
2005 is Year of the Volunteer, so there is even more reason to join in. Anyone interested in helping his or her local environment in this way should register with the Sustrans office in Cardiff by calling 02920 650635 - this is very important as the rides are subject to change. Full details of meeting places and times will be given. Volunteers don't have to be experienced cyclists to help - most rides cover about 12 miles and run from 10.30 - 4.00.
