Valley cycling by train

Campaign members should have found enclosed with this issue of OYB a copy of the Arriva Trains Wales leaflet "Valley Lines Cycling by Train". Bikes are carried free on Valley Lines trains subject to certain restrictions. This is an excellent way of seeing the South Wales Valleys by bike.

Let the train do the hard work by taking you and your bike uphill to the head of the valley and then cycle back downhill to Cardiff. Note that locomotive-hauled trains with old-style luggage vans still operate on the Rhymney Valley line throughout the day on Saturdays. This gives an opportunity to explore the proposed Rhymney Valley Trail along the old railway line on the east side of the valley.

Contact Caerphilly CBC at www.caerphilly.gov.uk for a leaflet giving further details.
