"Sir, just to congratulate you on your CD - 'tis a masterpiece. Wish I had made it. You have upped the ante!" Praveen Manghani (Project Adorno) "Last but not least, it's the rather bonkers We Am Janet. Fronted by permanent band member, The Fool Miles, who describes himself as a 'one man psychedeloid', WAJ produces songs such as In This Town which sounds like Badly Drawn Boy and John Lennon jamming together whilst on acid. Visit www.weamjanet.co.uk for an insight into WAJ's truly bizarre world!" Metway Session Review (The Insight) "I must admit that I am surprised that Rogar had not yet gone onto solids but I'm easily fooled. This album is the equivalent to Dylan going electric via Syd Barret going barmy. This is the consensus in Ohio anyway." September 2003 sees the release of the third full length We Am Janet album: Going on to Solids. It's probably the most upbeat of the Janet albums I've done so far and possible the most consistently tuneful. There's less messing around with noises and less looping of samples, meaning that I've had to fill the gaps those things usually occupy with, can you credit it, the playing of real instruments! Oh yes, and singing more harmonies. If you happen to like loopy bits and interesting noises don't worry, they're still there. It's just I've done more actual playing for this one. Going on to Solids also contains the definitive version of Oh Tragic Pig, arranged by no lesser a guest than Ms Victorian Mechanoid herself. The usual test specimens for Janet albums have given a very positive response so far, some hailing Going on to Solids as the best We Am Janet album yet (although that's against some fairly insular competition really). Some have said that there is a definite baggy feel to it. Others have said it sounds quite Beatles-y in places. MP3s are available for you to sample so please make up your own minds. |
